Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)

Liverpool John Lennon Airport has recently invested in a state of the art Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system to further improve the safety and security of the Airport. The initiative was launched in conjunction with Merseyside Police to detect and locate vehicles associated with crime and provide a safe environment for all users of the Airport.

The system utilises some of the most advanced technology in the world to identify stolen vehicles or those listed as wanted for a variety of crimes. Within seconds of entering the site, the registration of all vehicles are verified and checked against the Police National Computer. If a vehicle is recognised by the system an alarm is sounded in the Control Room and the Police are contacted.

The presence of the ANPR system makes Liverpool John Lennon Airport even safer for all passengers, partners and employees as it acts as a deterrent to criminals who may be thinking of visiting the site.
