Liverpool City Region is easy to navigate thanks to its excellent transport links, from buses and trains, to ferries and taxis. You can easily explore the city centre on foot or catch one of the excellent hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus tours.
Make the most of your time in the Liverpool City Region by using the convenient local train services. The Classic Resort of Southport and historic city of Chester are only a 45-minute train ride away, while the beautiful Wirral Peninsula is just 10 minutes across the River Mersey.
Train
The Merseyrail train network offers an extensive service throughout the Liverpool City Region.
Foot
Liverpool city centre is pedestrian friendly. Look out for the comprehensive tourist information sign posts and information points.
Bus
There are two main bus stations within Liverpool city centre, Paradise Street and Queen Square. There are seven large travel centres across the Liverpool City Region offering advice on all public transport services.
Ferry
There is no better way to experience Liverpool and Merseyside than from the deck of the famous Mersey Ferry. Take the Ferry ’Cross the Mersey Experience to learn about the city region's fascinating history, see its spectacular sights and discover its unique character. Transport to the city
Train
Liverpool South Parkway is the main station serving Liverpool John Lennon Airport and only a five-minute shuttle ride away. Trains to Liverpool city centre depart every few minutes.
Taxi
A hackney (black cab) rank is located directly outside the entrance to the airport terminal. These vehicles can carry up to five people and are available 24-hours-a-day. Passengers can now pay for taxi journeys using a debit or credit card as an alternative to paying by cash. Licensed Black Cabs with this service will display a ‘Chip, PIN & Go’ sign. The journey into Liverpool city centre is seven miles and takes approximately 20 minutes.
Private hire taxis must pick up/ drop off in the drop off car park.
Bus and Coach
The bus and coach stops are located at the front of the Airport Terminal Building.
AIRLINK 500: JOHN LENNON AIRPORT - LIVERPOOL CITY CENTRE
Airport - Liverpool City Centre. City Centre stops include Norton St Coach Station (for National Express connections) and Lime Street Station (for local, regional and mainline rail connections). Operates every 30 minutes, Monday to Friday daytimes, and every half an hour during evenings and weekends.
The National Express coach station is located in Norton Street, Liverpool city centre.
