On arrival at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, departing passengers will need to check in (if they haven't already done so online) and pass through Security, before they reach the Departure Lounge. Passengers should ensure they are ready to board and at the relevant Departure Gate at the published time.

Airlines apply their own policies and rules for online check in, for example, some airlines permit online check in for passengers with hand luggage only, whilst others permit online check-in and provide a seperate "Bag Drop" queuing section for those wishing the check luggage into the aircraft hold. Those passengers checking in online will not need to check in at the airport check-in desks, however, may need to drop hold baggage at the appropriate check-in desk. There is normally a seperate queuing section for "Bag Drop" only.
Passengers checking in online are reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure they arrive at the Departure Gate at the published boarding time, and are advised to allow sufficient time to pass through Security. Liverpool John Lennon Airport recommends that passengers arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before to departure.

On arrival, passengers checking in at the airport are advised to check the flight information display screens, located throughout the terminal, for the appropriate check in times and check in desk number for your flight. Check in desks are located on the ground floor of the terminal building.
At the check in desk, flight tickets and passports/photographic I.D will be checked, 'hold' baggage weighed and labelled, and a boarding card issued.
You will require your boarding card to proceed through security and when purchasing goods from the tax and duty free shops. You will also need your passport and boarding card when boarding the aircraft at the gate indicated.

Remember though, if you are a departing passenger anything bought before Security will be subject to the same security rules and restrictions as the rest of your baggage. The Tourist Information Centre can be found on the ground floor of the terminal at the Airport Information Desk. The centre includes information on accommodation and places to visit in Merseyside and the surrounding areas. The centre also sells some popular Liverpool memorabilia.

Baggage Trolleys are available from a number of trolley bays located throughout the car parks, to the front of the terminal, and for arriving passengers, within the Baggage Reclaim and Arrivals areas.
To make use of the baggage trolleys, you will need to insert either a £1GBP or €1EUR coin in to the receptor on the handle of the trolley to release it. When you have finished with the trolley, return it to a trolley bay and resecure it to release your coin.
