The global coronavirus outbreak is having an impact on everyone’s lives at present and here at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, the safety and security of both our passengers and our employees continues to remain our priority at all times.
The airport remains open and flights are continuing to operate to and from destinations, however passengers who have booked flights and are due to travel in the near future should contact their airline for the latest information.
Travel advice is available from the UK Government here including links through to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website with further advice about travelling abroad, including the latest information on coronavirus, safety and security, entry requirements and travel warnings.
We continue to implement measures in line with Public Health England guidance to delay the spread of this virus including:
- Enhanced monitoring of flights from affected locations and early liaison with airlines
- Protocol in place to deal with passengers displaying symptoms consistent with Coronavirus
- Additional signage throughout the terminal
- Provision of hand sanitiser dispenser locations across the airport
- Enhanced cleaning procedures

Exceptional Travel Advisory Notice
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has advised British people against all non-essential travel worldwide. This applies for an indefinite period due to unprecedented international border closures and other restrictions. All countries may restrict travel without notice.
If you now need to change or cancel your travel plans, follow these steps:
1. Contact your airline, travel company, cruise line or other transport and accommodation providers
2. Get in touch with your insurance provider
3. Continue to follow the NHS coronavirus guidance
Return to the UK now if you’re travelling abroad
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) advises British people travelling abroad to return to the UK now, if commercial flights are still available. This advice was published on 23 March 2020 and takes effect immediately.
International travel is becoming very limited as air routes close, land borders close and new restrictions are put in place that prevent flights from leaving.
If you’re travelling abroad, you should:
1. Contact your airline or travel company now
2. Keep up-to-date with the FCO's travel advice page.
The FCO is working with airlines to keep routes open, and are calling for international action to keep routes open to ensure that British people can return home on commercial flights. We are also working around the clock to support those British travellers who are already finding difficulties to come back to the UK.
If you are a permanent resident overseas, you should stay and follow the advice of the local authorities in the country you live in.
We appreciate that many passengers will have already booked flights and other airport-related facilities for travel in the future and may have questions regarding their booking. Below are answers to the most common questions:
I have booked parking, Aspire Lounge access and/or Fast Track Security but my airline has cancelled my flight, can I have a refund?
If your flight is cancelled a credit note will be issued for pre-booked parking that was booked directly with Liverpool John Lennon Airport. This credit can be used on any future official LJLA car parking bookings across all car parks until 30 June 2021, inclusive. Any Aspire Lounge and Fast Track Security bookings are refundable and can be amended or cancelled free of charge.
Email [email protected] to request a credit note. Amendments can be made up to two hours before departure.
I have booked parking, Aspire Lounge access and/or Fast Track Security, my airline hasn’t cancelled my flight but I have decided not to travel, can I amend my booking or have a refund?
Yes, you can amend or cancel your booking as above.
My vehicle is parked at the airport, but my flight home is cancelled. Will I be charged additional fees when I return?
No, you will not be charged any additional fees once your car park booking has expired. On your return to the airport, please drive to the exit barrier, select the intercom option to speak to our colleagues. You will need to have your booking reference and your original flight number at date of travel in order to assist you.
I have a blue badge replacement voucher in my vehicle but it has expired due to my flight being cancelled, will I be issued with a Parking Charge Notice (PCN)?
No, you will not be issued with a PCN due to your voucher expiring.
My vehicle is parked at the airport but my flight has been cancelled, can a member of my family collect it on my behalf?
Yes, if you wish for a friend/family member to collect your vehicle they must bring a copy of your original booking confirmation and a form of ID in your name, and take them to the car park office (ground floor of the multi-storey car park) for a staff member to verify.
How do I know if my flight is going ahead?
We recommend contacting your airline directly if you have any queries about your flights and/or booking.
What should I do if I have arrived from a country with confirmed cases?
Any passenger arriving on a flight from an affected country should follow Government advice, which is available on this website.
Should I wear a facemask when I travel?
The Government, via Public Health England, has advised that the wearing of facemasks is not mandatory at this time and is unlikely to be an effective prevention measure in any circumstances.
Good hand and personal hygiene practices are seen as the most effective response to the virus with the Government advising that people should wash their hands frequently for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water.
I need travel money. Can I get it at the airport?
Travelex are currently only offering Home Delivery on all travel money purchases via their website. To ensure the protection of their colleagues and customers, all Travelex UK stores are temporarily closed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Please also note that Royal Mail will no longer guarantee deliveries by 13:00 the next working day for items posted from Thursday 19 March 2020 onwards, therefore, you may experience a slight delay to your home delivery order. Travelex ATMs, which dispense both GBP and EUR, in the terminal are still available to use while stocks last. You can order your money here.
