For passengers departing Liverpool John Lennon Airport
This page contains information for passengers departing from Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
Please check with your airline to ensure you meet their requirements for boarding and official UK Government travel advice for entry requirements at your destination. The required testing and restrictions can vary by airline and by country, and you are responsible for ensuring your own compliance.
Which COVID travel tests are offered for departing passengers?
- Standard fit to fly PCR test, guaranteed to be processed within 24 hours: £99 (BOOK HERE)
- Rapid 3-hour fit to fly PCR test: £175.00 (BOOK HERE)
Some countries may require a negative COVID-19 test prior to entering. Please check official UK Government travel advice for entry restrictions, testing and/or quarantine requirements for the destination you are travelling to.
Currently, we are providing PCR tests with full Fit to Fly certification and all relevant documentation for arrival in the majority of European countries. Please check Government guidance to ensure you're booking the right test for your travel requirements.
We also have rapid testing available, which means that a fit to fly or test to release certificate that would take up to 48 hours with our standard process, will take as little as 1 hour and no longer than 3 hours to deliver a certificate back to a customer, though this service costs more.
Where can I get my test?
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is partnering with local, Knowsley-based company TAG to provide convenient and efficient COVID-19 tests for passengers who require them.
TAG work with clinical operator Salutaris, who will operate the testing site on our premises, using BioSource testing kits. BioSource provide the lab processing and hold all relevant CE certifications and are ISO/IEC 17025 and 1ISO:15189 accredited.
How do I book my test?
If you require a PCR test, you can make a booking by clicking here. You will need to select the date and time of your test to ensure it meets your travel requirements before you pay.
If you are travelling with other people and require multiple tests, then appointments will need to be booked separately.

Where will my test take place?
The testing facility is located at the check-in area within the terminal building. Passengers are advised to use the multi-storey car park if coming onsite in advance or to exit arrivals and turn right if just landed.
Will I have to pay for parking?
There are no parking fees for visitors to the TAG testing if coming onsite specifically for a test. A ticket will be issued upon completion of the test.
When should I book?
Testing capacity is limited and we recommend booking as early as possible to ensure you get a slot that meets your travel requirements. Remember to factor in the correct time of your flight.
Who will be doing the tests?
The clinical operators, Salutaris, have a fully-qualified team and are already delivering a similar service to the BBC, Premiership Rugby and Sony.
Do children require testing?
This can vary by destination. Please consult government advice for the destination you are travelling to.
Can I not use a test provided by the NHS or mass testing scheme?
No. To enter countries with testing requirements, you’ll need a PCR test and a Fit to Fly certificate, which is not obtainable via the NHS or mass testing schemes.
How will I receive my certificate?
Depending on your test result, you will receive a Fit to Fly or a Not Fit to Fly certificate via email within 48 hours of your test, with the required information for travel.
What if my test is positive?
If you receive a positive test result, you must self-isolate in accordance with Government guidance. You will not be permitted to travel, and we recommend getting in touch with your airline or tour operator to discuss your options.
