Winters in Bulgaria’s capital tend to be very cold and snowy, so if you’re travelling at the beginning or end of the year, don’t forget to pack your coat, hat, scarf and gloves!

The main street in Sofia is Vitosha Boulevard, so when searching for somewhere to stay, ensure you’re within walking distance of this area if possible. There are hotels, apartments and B&Bs to suit all styles and budgets throughout the city centre, so you won’t be short of somewhere to stay – just ensure you’re not too far out. If you are staying within walking distance of Vitosha Boulevard, it’s unlikely that you will need to use public transport at all during your stay.
