The historic capital city of Austria should be on everyone’s bucket list. If you’re looking for great culture, fantastic food and stunning sights then Vienna is the place to go.
Right in the heart of the city, you will find Schonbrunn Palace. This impressive manor and gardens to match are Vienna's most popular tourist attraction - and there's no wonder why. There are more than 1,100 rooms in the entire building and over 460 acres of gardens to explore at your leisure.
One place you cannot miss is St. Stephen's Cathedral. Over 700 years old, this cathedral is symbolic in Vienna's culture and history for being the place where Joseph Haydn sang as a choir boy, and Mozart married in 1782. If you want to see more, head 343 steps up the the South Tower which leads you to the ‘Türmerstube’, where you can enjoy one of the best views of the city. Those extra steps really are worth it!
A fan of Mozart? Want to stand where he once stood? Head to the appropriately named Mozarthaus! From 1784 to 1787, Mozart and his family resided in this spacious city centre apartment - where he wrote the world-famous opera “Le Nozze di Figaro” and a number of the Haydn Quartets. Ideally situated by St. Stephens Cathedral, it cannot be missed! Big fans of classical music may also want to visit the birthplace of Schubert, or the old house of Beethoven - all of which centrally located.
Often referred to one of Europe’s most stunning Baroque landmarks, the Belvedere Museum offers fantastic architecture and amazing artwork, from the likes of Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh. The palaces are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site - which says it all really, doesn't it? There is so much more to see and do in Vienna. Take in a show at the opera house, go on a bus tour of the city, or visit the animals at Tiergarten Schönbrunn - the world's oldest zoo. The list is practically endless!
