Passengers departed from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) to the Moroccan city of Marrakech for the first time today as Ryanair commenced its twice weekly service from Liverpool.
Known for its famous souks - marketplaces across a labyrinth of narrow alleyways, Marrakech is a popular, exotic tourist destination in western Morocco and now just 3 hours 40 mins away direct from Liverpool.
With flights on Mondays and Fridays, the region’s travellers can choose to go for a long weekend or mid-week break to North Africa.
The first passengers to take advantage of this new service departed this morning on Ryanair’s latest new route from Liverpool which operates on Fridays and Mondays throughout the Winter and next Summer too.
Marrakech becomes the latest city to be served from Liverpool with flights now on sale to over 60 destinations across the UK and Europe
Mark Povall, LJLA’s Director of Air Service Development commented, “Today’s departure to Marrakech is the first flight from Liverpool to North Africa for some time and another new route by Ryanair from here.
Just last month Ryanair announced further significant expansion of their business from Liverpool for Summer 2017 and we look forward to repeating celebrations like this for other new Ryanair destinations too.”
