Planning a short spring break or early summer getaway this year? Palma, Majorca’s capital city makes an ideal weekend destination with plenty to do and see.

Sóller Train

The Sóller Train takes you away from all the hustle and bustle of the centre of Palma, past Bunyola’s olive groves and Alfabia gardens and into the tranquillity of the Tramuntana Mountains.  After a stroll around Sóller, we recommend you take the tram down to Port de Sóller for a relaxing lunch in the harbour or by the beach.

Binissalem

Binissalem is a small village north-east of Palma where many of Majorca’s wines are made using local grapes. If you fancy a day of wine tasting, make sure to visit José L. Ferrer where you can step into the past through its museum, learn about and taste the different wines whilst combining them with gourmet products in the wine shop.

Artà

This attractive rural town located in the north east of Majorca makes for a lovely day out. You can wander around the tree lined avenues and small winding alleys or venture out to the hills for breath-taking views of the countryside. Explore the artisan shops or for the more adventurous, enjoy a bike ride or go sailing at Colonia St Pere!

Shopping

Palma is the main shopping hot spot on the island and offers a great selection of traditional and trendy shops. The main shopping areas definitely worth a visit are Passeig des Born, Avinguda Jaume III and not forgetting the elegant, often pedestrianised cobbled streets and ancient passageways around Plaça Cort and Plaça Major.

Although Palma is a fantastic year round destination, May and June boast sunny days and warm evenings which will allow you to make the most of all the island has to offer before the holiday crowds arrive.
