Alicante is a port city on Spain’s south eastern Costa Blanca, and the capital of the Alicante province. It’s a dynamic, gorgeous Spanish city with a long waterfront, old quarter and a castle.

If you’re looking for blue flag beaches, authentic tapas and cobbled medieval streets, Javea is just an hour’s drive from Central Alicante and an ideal place for those looking to rest and relax.  For a vibrant nightlife, we recommend Benidorm; just a 40-minute drive from Alicante airport.

Things to do in Alicante:

The Castle of Santa Barbara is Alicante’s main emblem; a glorious golden fortress standing 166 metres above sea level. It’s a great place to let your imagination run wild whilst you explore all the castle has to offer from dungeons and cannons to towers and palaces. Once you reach the very top, the breath-taking views of the marina are worth the climb, making it the perfect spot for selfies or even lunch at one of the restaurants or cafes.

The Guadalest Valley, also known as the ‘Eagle’s Nest’ is located approximately 20km from Benidorm. With a population of just 300 in the region, Guadalest is tiny, but nevertheless a very popular destination for tourists looking to explore the historic mountains. Take a short boat ride around the reservoir or visit the museums in the old town for a fun day out.

The Explanada de Espana is a maritime promenade that runs parallel to the port, from Puerta del Mar to Canalejas Park and is one of the most popular places in Alicante. Here you can enjoy a lovely stroll with plenty to do and see such as browsing the market stalls or stopping off for a nice meal at one of the restaurants.

MARQ is one of the most beautiful archaeological museums in Europe, offering visitors the opportunity to find out about the local history and the techniques that Archaeologists use to discover the past. For those looking for something off the beaten track, MARQ has plenty to see and learn making it an interesting day out for culture lovers.
