Lufthansa’s new service to Frankfurt takes off from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, bringing the return of global connectivity for the city for the first time in over 10 years.
Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) is to host a Recruitment Day on Tuesday 18 January with over 200 vacancies currently looking to be filled by a number of companies based at the airport.
The recruitment drive is taking place ahead of a planned busier summer season which starts at the end of March and companies looking to recruit a number of new employees include handling agent Swissport, aviation security company Wilson James, catering company SSP, passenger assistance company ABM and retailers such as Boots and duty free shop operator Dufry.
The event is to be held in the airport terminal building from 10am until 4pm, with anyone interested in a career at the Airport able to come along and talk to representatives from each of the companies looking to recruit staff, with some employers looking to undertake interviews on the day too. Appointments are not required in advance.
A diverse range of job opportunities are currently available at the airport including aviation security officers, handling agent passenger services roles, baggage handling, passenger assistance for people with disabilities, catering and related front of house roles, bar work and retail work.
Carol Dutton, Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s HR & Community Director commented, “This event is a great opportunity for anyone considering a career at the airport to find out about a host of positions currently available across a diverse range of employers.
We look forward to having lots of applicants attend, with many hopefully starting work here in the coming weeks to help welcome passengers flying in and out of the airport as we continue on our road to recovery with a busier summer ahead than in the previous past two years.”
For those wishing to use public transport to travel to the event, a number of bus services call at the airport, whilst nearby Liverpool South Parkway provides a link to the region’s rail network for anyone travelling here from further afield. Complimentary parking will also be available for those traveling by car.
Anyone interested in attending this event can go to the dedicated Recruitment Day page on the airport website: https://www.liverpoolairport.com/recruitment-day
A new service by PLAY airlines will connect Liverpool with Reykjavík and four eastern US cities.
A £2m investment is now underway to introduce new passenger facilities that will also create a further 200 jobs at the airport.
