Mersey Gateway Bridge

The new Mersey Gateway Bridge across the River Mersey is now open. The existing Silver Jubilee Bridge between Runcorn and Widnes has closed.

The new bridge means quicker, easier and more reliable journeys across the River Mersey. There is a free-flow tolling system meaning there won’t be toll booths along the route, which will help reduce journey times and minimise congestion. ROADWORKS UPDATE

Mersey Gateway roadworks update

New works

Essential work on the Mersey Gateway Project means the following new road, lane and footpath closures will be in place over the coming days and weeks.

Date

Road

Details

07/03/18 for approx. five weeks.

Hutchinson Street and Dock Road, Widnes

We will commence demolition of Hutchinson Street and Dock Road bridges which means that both roads will be closed. A diversion will be in place, access to West Bank will be via Victoria Road and access to 3MG will be via Desoto Road.

We will temporarily open a link to Widnes Loops during this time so that high sided vehicles avoid the low bridge on Victoria Road.

Please note the table does not include details of all works. For information on existing major closures and diversion routes, visit Plan Your Journey on the Mersey Gateway website.
