Why you should go
Bulgaria’s Bourgas region is known for many things, but the beaches are primarily what attracts so many people to the area year after year. Fancy somewhere lively and loud for plenty of fun in the sun? Families, young couples and group holidays will all be found at Sunny Beach. If you’re after somewhere slightly more peaceful and picturesque, head down to Obzor, Pomorie or Nessebar beach. No matter which one you decide on, all are perfect spots to relax and bask in the sunshine.
If you’re a bit of a history buff or just fancy a day of sightseeing, Nessebar is the perfect place to do a bit of exploring. With the old part of the town being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you have three millennia of history to discover, including the walls of the fortress that are still standing from Roman times. After you’ve completed your historical adventure, be sure to stop at the harbour in the new part of town for a drink – there are also plenty of super-boats and yachts to be in awe of!
Looking for an incredible nightlife? Look no further. Sunny Beach never disappoints when it comes to the bars and clubs, or if you’re looking for something on a bigger scale head down to one of the region’s festivals. Solar Summer Festival and Spirit of Bourgas have seen some of the world’s biggest DJs and dance acts head to Bulgaria for some fun in the sun.
When you should go
Bourgas is beautiful at any time of year; if you are looking forward to catching some rays and lying by the pool in your swimwear, your best bet is to visit any time between May and October. Even if you visit during the winter months, the evenings might be a bit chilly but the weather is generally mild. Take a coat just to be safe!
